In accordance with the Texas Education Code 37.1141, school districts are required to notify the community when conducting active threat exercises on campuses. On Saturday, July 20, 2024, Johnson City ISD will be conducting these exercises in the district. Exercises will include simulation activities that mimic active threat events. It is likely that community residents may hear loud sounds coming from campuses and may witness activity that resemble a real emergency. Johnson City and Blanco County first responders will be properly notified of the training. Students will NOT be involved in this training.
This training has been developed and will be conducted by law enforcement trained and credentialed professionals and is designed to ensure the safety and security of the participants. Johnson City ISD will use the data and feedback from the training to improve district safety protocols.
