In accordance with the Texas Education Code 37.1141, school districts are required to notify the community when conducting active threat exercises on district property.
On Sunday, October 13, 2024 Johnson City ISD will be conducting these exercises at LBJ Elementary School and LBJ Middle School. Exercises will include simulation activities that mimic active threat events. It is likely that community residents may hear loud sounds coming from campuses and may witness activity that resembles a real emergency. Johnson City and Blanco County first responders will be notified of the training. Students will NOT be involved in this training.
The training has been developed and will be conducted by law enforcement trained and credentialed professionals and is designed to ensure the safety and security of all participants. Johnson City ISD will use the data and feedback from the training to improve district safety protocols.
